NC Swim Squads

The NC Swim Squad Program offers 6 different squad levels ranging from Mini Squad through to Senior National level - we are a middle distance medley based program offering strong support for Competitive Pool Swimming as well as Surf Life Saving, Pool Rescue and Water Polo.

SQUAD DESCRIPTIONS

EARLY DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

The first level of the NC Swim Development Squads. Swimmers in Early Development can swim 25m of freestyle and backstroke unassisted and have learned the fundamentals of breaststroke and butterfly. There is a focus on building stamina whilst building and developing technique in all four swimming strokes.

Afternoon sessions are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3:45-4:30pm and are of 45 minutes duration (Friday afternoon session focus will be racing skills only); Morning sessions are offered Tuesday and Thursday 7-8am and are of 1 hour duration. 

 Lesson Focus:

Swimmers may book in for up to 3* sessions per week for a monthly fee of $95.

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

The second level of the NC Swim Development Squads. Swimmers in Development Squad have a firm grasp of all four swimming strokes. There is a focus on increasing fitness and strength in all four strokes with emphasis on further developing and maintaining quality technique under training stress. Swimmers will continue to work on racing skills such as dives, turns and finishes.

Afternoon sessions are offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 4:30-5:30pm PLUS Friday 4:30-5:15pm (Friday afternoon session focus will be racing skills only); Morning sessions are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7-8am. 

Lesson Focus:

Swimmers may book in for up to 4* sessions per week for a monthly fee of $105.

INTERMEDIATE SQUAD

The first level of the NC Swim Standard Competitive Squads. Swimmers at this level are focused on creating speed and endurance in all four swimming strokes. Swimmers will be introduced to more advanced training formats including sprinting and individual medley. There is a strong focus on ensuring swimmers can maintain quality technique under higher intensity training stress. The Intermediate program is designed to introduce swimmers to the first level of competitive swimming.

Morning sessions are offered Monday-Friday 6:30-8am and are a combined session with the Advanced Squad; Afternoon sessions are offered Monday & Wednesday 3:45-5:30pm Plus Friday 3:45-5:15pm (Friday afternoon session focus will be racing skills only). All afternoon sessions include a 15 minute Prehab session prior to swimming.

Training Focus:

Swimmers may book in for up to 5* sessions per week for a monthly fee of $115.

ADVANCED SQUAD

The second level of the NC Swim Standard Competitive Squads. Swimmers in Advanced have already been introduced to competitive swimming and already have or are hoping to achieve NSW Swimming Metropolitan and/or State level qualifying times. Swimmers in Advanced swimmers may also be in pursuit of high levels in surf life saving competition and/or water polo.

Morning sessions are offered Monday-Friday 6:30-8am and are a combined session with the Intermediate Squad; afternoon sessions are offered Monday and Wednesday 5-7pm, include a 30 minute Prehab session prior to swimming and are a combined session with the Advanced Plus Squad, PLUS Friday 5-6:30pm, includes a 15 minute Prehab session and is a combined session with both Advanced Plus & Performance Squads (Friday afternoon session focus will be racing skills only).  

Training Focus:

Swimmers may book in for up to 5* sessions per week for a monthly fee of $125. 

ADVANCED PLUS SQUAD

The third level of the NC Swim Standard Competitive Squads. Swimmers in Advanced Plus are generally over the age of 13, have already been introduced to competitive swimming and already have or are hoping to achieve NSW Swimming Metropolitan, State and/or National level qualifying times. Swimmers in Advanced swimmers may also be in pursuit of high levels in surf life saving competition and/or water polo.

Morning sessions are offered Monday-Friday 5:15-7am, include a 15 minute Prehab session and are a combined session with the Performance Squad; afternoon sessions are offered Monday and Wednesday 5-7pm including a 30 minute Prehab session prior to swimming and are combined with the Advanced Squad PLUS Friday 5-6:30pm including a 15 minute Prehab session (Friday afternoon session focus will be racing skills only). 

Training Focus:

Swimmers may book in for up to 5* sessions per week for a monthly fee of $130.

PERFORMANCE SQUAD

The TOP level of the NC Swim Advanced Competitive Squads. Swimmers in Performance are dedicated to swimming sports and are already Senior State and National level competitors. The Performance Squad specialises in advanced medley swimming catering for Sprint, Mid-Distance and Long Distance in ALL FOUR SWIMMING STROKES as well as Elite level Surf Life Saving and Waterpolo athletes. Performance swimmers are personally selected by the coaches from the APlus Squad based on training ability, maturation - physical and psychological, commitment to training and competitive swimming sports. 

Morning sessions are offered Monday-Friday 5:15-7am; afternoon sessions are offered Monday-Thursday 5-7pm PLUS Friday 5-6:30pm (Friday afternoon session focus will be racing skills only) Swimmers may be required to travel to other training venues on occasion. Swimmers are required to attend a minimum of 5 and a MAXIMUM of 8 sessions per week (determined in consultation with the head coach) for a monthly fee of $135. 

Training Focus:

* Swimmers in all squads will be allowed to attend 1 extra session per week at no charge providing one of their sessions is the Friday afternoon racing skills session.

Please be aware that as swimmers move between levels, the standard of each squad can fluctuate - training goals are therefore subject to change as the needs of each squad level changes. 

The NC Swim Squad Program is constantly monitored and always under evaluation; as the needs of our advancing swimmers change, the program evolves to that we can continue to deliver and maintain the highest level of quality coaching possible.
